His experience includes building new business areas for organizations, operational transformations, enterprise software implementations and technology solutions for the utility sector. Over the last four years in corporate innovation, he has established and led multiple first-of-kind programs for asset management in the industry surrounding drones, robotics, carbon reductions, and automation.

Thomas's career started as a Mechanical Engineering intern at one of Xcel Energy's power plants, and after graduation stayed with Xcel as a maintenance planner at another Minnesota based power plant. He's held operations supervisor and operations manager roles at other plats throughout his career. Since his internship, Thomas helped build the indoor UAS programs at Xcel and became the first full-time UAS pilot for the company in 2020. Thomas has a bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, and a bachelor's in Physics from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire.
