About this webinar
Description
In today’s digital age, protecting networks, devices, data, and personal privacy has become increasingly challenging. Cybersecurity and the misuse of biometric data are two significant concerns.
Cybersecurity: This involves the threat of unauthorized individuals gaining access to sensitive information, such as personal identification numbers, financial details, or health records. The consequences can be severe, including identity theft, financial loss, and reputational damage. Claims of data breach, cyber fraud, securities fraud, and shareholder derivative suits may ensue as a result of cyber attacks.
Biometric Privacy: This involves the use of unique biological traits, like fingerprints, facial recognition, or iris scans, for identification purposes. While biometrics offer enhanced security, they also pose privacy risks. If biometric data is compromised, it can be difficult to change, unlike passwords. Legal frameworks, such as the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) in Illinois, have been established to regulate the collection, storage, and use of biometric data, ensuring individuals’ privacy rights are protected.
Both cybersecurity and biometric privacy issues can lead to legal action. Join Beasley Allen attorneys Larry Golston and Tyner Helms as they break down the specifics of these cases.
